Objective

Celebrate the 125th anniversary of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory by telling the story of it's highlights and breakthroughs over the years.

This project was particularly fun for me. I got a chance to play the double role of a content strategist, and arrange smaller parts to form a much larger mosaic of a timeline. So instead of thinking about a series of templates, I tried to document this project on a micro level with each piece of content used as a building block.

Big Picture Concepts

The range of scientific discoveries connected with were very broad; too broad to create a simple category-based browsing experience. We decided to therefore create chronological chapters, or eras and let the discoveries be found along the way. Below is a meta-concept for the grouping of information.

Building a flexible structure for story telling

Each era had similar structure that allowed for various content types to create a rich story.

Getting into the weeds with each module

We dedicated sections of the document to each module to let clients know what type of content to provide as well as help our developers build content types.
